Riley Hayes Launches New Website for Three Rivers Park District

April 24 2017

We’re excited to announce the launch of the new threeriversparks.org, a complete redesign and rebuild of the regional park district's website. We think it’s the perfect place to go before heading out for some outdoor fun. It features a fresh, modern look, an easy-to-use navigation, a robust mapping functionality (we’ll rave more about that later), and engaging copy—all designed to help users find just the right spot and activity.

The challenge was perfect for LoveAction: get people into the parks doing the activities they love as quickly as possible, without losing sight of the brand. As we played around in the strategy sandbox, we found an insight everyone could agree on: people don’t search the Three Rivers site for something fun to do, they use google for that. But we knew that once users found the Three Rivers home page, they’d be able to experience the brand, find relevant content and explore more possibilities. It wasn’t that googlers were killing the home page; they were killing the notion that there should only be one of them.

So we built the new site based on what we deemed the ‘Land Of 10,000 Home Pages strategy’, where every content page serves an introduction to the Three Rivers brand. Now, whether users are looking to go mountain biking in Elm Creek, take their dogs off the leash in Spring Lake Park, or play disc golf in Bloomington, they’ll be welcomed by what looks and feels like a home page, only one with just the content they want.

Last but certainly not least, we mapped out a new, entirely superior map experience. Using GIS (geographic information system) technology, we made it possible for users to not only find directions to the parks, but also to find their way around inside the parks.

All in all, the new Three Rivers site is a perfect example of what Riley Hayes’ LoveAction is all about—building brand love while delivering measurable results. So before you go outdoors, we invite you to go online at threeriversparks.org
